New Ticketsolve Case Study: The Reopening of Komedia Brighton

Written by Darren Poynter | Aug 3, 2021 9:17:00 AM

Komedia is Brighton’s premier live entertainment venue presenting one of the largest, most diverse arts and entertainment programmes in the UK. After a year of closure, Komedia came back blazing with a six-week-long socially distanced programme of comedy, music, and kids shows.

Our latest case study is a further development following an episode of The Arts and Everything in Between Podcast which welcomed Paul Musselwhite, Managing Director of Komedia Brighton. Komedia is Brighton’s premier live entertainment venue and presents one of the largest, most diverse arts and entertainment programmes in the UK. Hosted by members of the Arts Working Group, Paul shared his team’s experiences of reopening with their summer programme and their first live performance which took place on Saturday, 22nd May.

Whilst social distancing restrictions are in place, the team at Komedia needed to get creative and become more strategic than ever. The first steps taken by the team at Komedia were to strip everything back and start with the bare bones. Their starting focus was to understand the needs of each department individually and to create a methodological structure beginning with the booking process, to negotiations with artists, right through to putting a show on sale. This case study takes you through the challenges facing their venue and the new learnings for their team. For the full story, grab your copy

Members of the Arts Working Group are currently in the process of reopening their venues located all over the UK. The aim of this podcast series and for future episodes is to learn from the challenges, mistakes and triumphs of other organisations and share them with the wider community to support everyone getting back on their feet. With special thanks to the Arts Working Group members Kai Aberdeen of Princes Theatre, Mandy Mills of Venue Cymru, and Bryony May of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council (The Ardhowen) for their contributions to the podcast episode. Thank you to Paul Musselwhite of Komedia Brighton who joined the episode as special guest and shared their reopening story on the Arts and Everything in Between Podcast.
