Highlights from the Arts Marketing Association Conference
Attending a conference that challenges you to be both bold and brave is sure to leave you inspired. The recent Arts Marketing Association (AMA) Conference did just that, kicking off with a keynote on the importance of self-love for learning, growing, and loving what we do. The result? A whirlwind of ideas and inspiration that we're eager to share.
Our two days in Brighton were packed with insightful sessions and meaningful conversations, despite the ever-changing weather ☀️🌧️. It was wonderful reconnecting with long-time friends of Ticketsolve and meeting new ones. If you stopped by our stall, thank you! And if you couldn't make it this year, don't worry – we've got you covered with the highlights.
Our resource recommendations
The best conferences are those that send you home with a treasure trove of reading materials and new additions to your virtual library. The AMA Conference delivered on this front. Here are two standout resources we've been diving into since the event:
Trans-Inclusive Culture: Guidance on Advancing Trans Inclusion for Museums, Galleries, Archives, and Heritage Organisations
This comprehensive guide provides an ethical framework for advancing trans inclusion in cultural institutions. It breaks down the complexities of UK law and offers practical strategies based on over 130 survey responses. These strategies aim to build the skills, knowledge, and confidence of staff, volunteers, freelancers, leaders, and trustees, ultimately enhancing the experiences of trans individuals and communities. Download it here.
Accessible Marketing Guide: Unlimited
Discover a comprehensive guide designed to help you make your marketing activities and communications accessible to a broader audience. Updated in 2024 by Unlimited, an arts commissioning body that champions new work by disabled artists in the UK and beyond, this resource is packed with practical tips to support arts organizations in enhancing their accessibility. Discover it here.
Both of these resources, along with many others, are available on the AMA’s excellent CultureHive platform – which also hosts some great Ticketsolve resources! 👀
P10Y: Ticketsolve’s guide to getting things done
As proud event sponsors, we were thrilled to host our own session on Friday morning. Emma and Nick presented “P10Y,” Ticketsolve’s guide to getting things done. While we don't claim to have unlocked the secret to productivity, we shared tips and tricks that help us stay focused and motivated at Ticketsolve.
Because we love to share, we've compiled a resource rounding up some of our key ideas and reflections, which you can access here. In an era of tight budgets, limited time, knowledge gaps, and high staff turnover, we hope these ideas and methods will benefit you, your organisation, and your teams.
Upcoming Events
Though the AMA Conference has wrapped up for another year, the AMA hosts regular events throughout the UK. If you want to stay in the loop about upcoming events, you can find more information here.
If you'd like to chat to Team Ticketsolve about how we get things done (and can help you to do so, too), just a reminder that we are holding workshops throughout July and August. Find out more and book your place here.
We left the AMA Conference feeling energised and full of new ideas to implement. We hope to see you at future events, ready to be bold and brave together.
