At Ticketsolve, we are constantly working to help our customers maximise their revenue and streamline processes, and this week, we’re thrilled to roll out two major updates: our upgraded online Donations Prompt and enhanced Gift Aid capture & reporting for our UK customers.

These new features have been shaped by feedback from our community and extensive testing with in both alpha and beta phases, delivering impressive results that we can’t wait to share with you. Let’s take a look at how these changes can enhance your fundraising efforts.

Upgrade to the Online Donations Prompt: Small Change, Big Impact

During our recent review of the donation process, we recognised that the previous donation prompt—while easy to navigate—didn’t encourage customers to take a moment to consider their decision to donate. Our solution? An updated prompt that requires customers to make an active decision to donate or to “not donate at this time” before moving forward with their purchase.

This small but powerful adjustment has had a significant impact. By nudging customers to make a choice, we've seen donation rates and values surge during our testing phases. This change ensures that while donations are encouraged, the overall purchasing experience remains seamless for your customers.

Test Results: A Snapshot of Success

The outcomes from our alpha and beta tests have been incredible. Here’s what our testers experienced two weeks after the new Donation Prompt was introduced:

  • 132% increase in orders with donations
  • 154% increase in donation rate per order
  • 38% increase in donation size
  • 217% increase in total donation value
  • 158% proportional increase in total donation value

Some of our beta testers saw astonishing growth, with total donation values soaring by as much as 906%!

These results show that this simple update can make a huge difference. By actively encouraging donations without adding friction to the checkout process, the new Donations Prompt is a win-win for both Ticketsolve users and their customers.

Enhanced Gift Aid Capture: Maximising UK Donations

For our UK customers, we’ve also improved the way Gift Aid is captured, making the process more efficient and easier for both donors and organisations. Previously, Gift Aid had to be opted into on each donation, but now we’ve streamlined it so customers can set their Gift Aid preference at the customer-record level.

Customers can now choose to apply Gift Aid to:

  • All future donations and any made in the last 4 years
  • All future donations from today onwards
  • Just today’s donation
  • Opt out of Gift Aid altogether

To make things even easier, we’ve moved Gift Aid to its own page in the checkout flow and added a suggested label to the most flexible option, encouraging donors to maximise their contributions. With Gift Aid potentially increasing donations by 25%, this change will help organisations unlock even more revenue at no extra cost to the donor.

Gift Aid Reporting Made Simple

Our update also brings improvements to reporting. You can now generate detailed reports to claim Gift Aid from HMRC quickly and efficiently. The new “Donations and Gift Aid Preference List” report provides everything you need, including customer preferences, donation details, and relevant tax information. This enhancement ensures you’re always up to date and compliant, saving your team time and effort.

Maximise Your Fundraising Potential

With these updates, Ticketsolve is continuing to support your fundraising efforts. We recommend reviewing the text on your donation pages to reflect the new flow, ensuring your customers understand the importance of making a decision at checkout. By encouraging active decisions and streamlining Gift Aid capture, we’re confident these changes will help boost your fundraising results!
