Quick Think Tip: Using Facebook Effectively

1. Likes don't really matter much.

Okay we'll caveat this one by saying they kinda of do and they kinda of don't. The value of a Facebook like/fan has dramatically dropped since 2013. From 11-16% reach in 2013 to a 6.15% organic reach as of Feb 2014. What you really need now is an engaged fan/like - a much more valuable stat.

2. Like-gating is dead.

In order to reach your Facebook content, people no longer need to like your page first. This is great as it gives more people more access to your content. Plus, when they do like a page (e.g., through a third party etc.), they are more engaged and likely genuinely interested in more content. Again this brings us right back to engaged fans.

3. Reach is a struggle.

Unless you spend some money that is. Reaching your target audience has become significantly harder on Facebook. However, a little money spend (and some serious targeted ads), can you get you in front of your potential customers.

Facebook ads can be designed to be very, very targeted, allowing almost laser point accuracy in directing your ads to the right audience. Your options include customer audiences (which is directed to your current fan base), lookalike audiences (which is directed at audiences that are like your current fan base), and website custom audiences (which targets specific people as they browse through your website and come back to Facebook).

So is Facebook still useful? Absolutely. Might you need to change your thinking around Facebook? Probably. Can you sell tickets through Facebook with Ticketsolve? YES!
