3 Ways That Pokémon Go Can Be Used To Market To Your Audience

And it’s fair to say it’s caused quite a stir. Here at Ticketsolve, we’ve been engrossed in finding as many new and exciting pokemon as possible, and you should be too.

Since it’s release last week it has more daily, active users than Twitter, and people are spending more time on their Pokémon Go app than they are on both WhatsApp and Snapchat. There is absolutely no denying its global appeal, and while some might see this as another fad that will fade away pretty quickly, there’s enough to suggest that Pokémon Go could be around for some time yet. Considering that a normal Pokémon game would have cost roughly £35/€45 and only been available to play on Nintendo DS, Niantic (The Pokémon Company) have made Pokémon Go available to every smartphone user for free and in the space of a week, it has become the most popular mobile game of all-time.

So how can Pokémon Go benefit the Ticketsolve community? We’ve put together a short list of some potential ways that your organisation can generate some exposure and publicity.

Get People Interested In Your Local “Pokéstop”

What’s a Pokéstop I hear you ask? Think of it as a landmark that Pokémon users travel to and receive rewards. If you happen to be lucky enough to have a Pokéstop extremely close to your location, adding a “lure module” will certainly get people interested in your location. By placing a lure module at your nearest Pokéstop, it dramatically increases the chance of wild pokemon appearing at your location. Hence, people are more likely to travel to locations that have “lure modules” in effect. Each module lasts for 30 minutes and roughly costs around £.90p/€1 to use each time depending on how many in-game coins you purchase. Don’t forget to ask players to share when they capture pokemon at your location on social media.

“Lure Modules” not only attract Pokémon, they’ll also bring customers to your venue.

Organise a Pokémon Hunting Event

Why not start the event at your organisation, plan out a detailed map of your town that takes in as many Pokéstop’s and Pokégyms as possible, set a time and date for everybody to get together and watch how many people turn up. During the summer months, with children off school and the glorious weather, you’ll be surprised at how many people will show up to this. Also, there is a theory that the more people that play in one location at the same time, increases the chances of finding rarer pokemon. Niantic have also promised an update in the near future that will allow players to swap pokemon with other users so creating a Pokémon Trading Event is another idea that could generate a lot of interest.

Entice potential Pokémon Go trainers with your venue’s offers.

Appoint a resident Pokémon tracker

At least one member of your organisation should be your resident pokemon tracker. Share as much as you can through different posts, photos and videos of all things Pokémon within your venue. The aim is to catch them all and your venue may just have pokemon that aren’t easily found. It’s also good to have somebody just tracking your Pokémon location every now and then. As I mentioned earlier, there are rare pokemon. Some are so rare in fact, that they haven’t been found yet,..anywhere. So you can be sure that if your location happens to have a rare “Mewtwo,” you’ll know about it pretty quickly.
